DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
The project was split
into two sections. The works to Section 1 comprised the construction
of the substructure and superstructure of a single storey
L shaped classroom block which connects to the existing adjoining
building. The building has a total internal floor area of
327m5 and accommodates three classrooms together with ancillary
offices and storage rooms. The new building was constructed
over live services and drainage. The construction is of a
traditional nature with the use of trench fill foundations,
solid ground floors, brick and rendered faced masonry cavity
walls with aluminium windows and external doors, timber flat
and pitched roofs clad in either single ply covering or interlocking
tiles. The building included high pressure hot water and heating,
electrical installation with supplies taken from the existing
adjoining building and an education fit out. Ancillary works
include external services, drainage and site works.
The works to Section 2
comprised the alteration works within the existing building
to provide an improved staff area.
CONSULTANT SERVICES PROVIDED:
The Pre-Contract Services
carried out on this project involved the initial budgeting,
the preparation of the Bills of Quantities and the reporting
and advising on the selection of the tenders received.
The Post-Contract Services
carried out on this project involved the continual cost monitoring
and reporting on the project, the agreeing and certifying
of monthly valuations, dealing with Contractual matters and
the preparation and agreeing of the final account.
