DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

The project was to construct the substructure and superstructure of a single storey fan shaped classroom block. The building has a total internal floor area of 219m5 and accommodates three classrooms together with ancillary offices and storage rooms. The construction is of a traditional nature with the use of strip foundations, solid ground bearing ground floors, brick faced masonry cavity walls with aluminum windows and external doors, timber flat and pitched roofs clad in either single ply covering or interlocking tiles. The building included high pressure hot water and heating, electrical installation with supplies taken from the existing adjoining building and an education fit out. The building also included energy saving measure like photovoltaic cells. Ancillary works include external services, drainage and site works.

CONSULTANT SERVICES PROVIDED:

The Pre-Contract Services carried out on this project involved the initial budgeting, the preparation of the Bills of Quantities and the reporting and advising on the selection of the tenders received.
