DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

The project comprised the construction of a two storey Junior School, which also contained a new Library, Sanatorium and Staff Accommodation. The building also contained a small basement area housing the Plant Room.

The building is of traditional construction with load-bearing masonry walls, precast concrete floors, timber trussed rafter roof structure and clay plain tile roof coverings. Windows and external doors are to be purpose made aluminium.

The building was completed for fitting out by the Employer including the majority of floor finishes. The Works included mechanical, electrical and lift installations.

Ancillary works included simple landscaping, paving, steps and ramps, drainage and the diversion of existing external services around the building.

CONSULTANT SERVICES PROVIDED:

The Pre-Contract Services carried out on this project involved the initial budgeting, the preparation of the Bills of Quantities, advising on the selection of tendering contractors and reporting on the tenders received.

The Post-Contract Services carried out on this project involved the continual cost monitoring and cost reporting on the project, the agreeing and certifying of monthly valuations, dealing with all Contractual matters and the preparation and agreement of the final account. Cost information was provided to the BCIS and the Department of Trade & Industry.
