DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
The developer on this
project was required under the Section 106 Agreement to construct
a new sports club on a turn-key arrangement to allow Taunton
Vale Sports Club to relocate from their previous ground prior
to redeveloping this ground for housing . The Developer choose
to negotiate with a local main contractor, Midas Construction
Ltd to provide a full package of facilities which included
not only the sports club building but also the construction
of two cricket pitches (one to county standard), an artificial
turf hockey pitch, practice nets, grounds-keeper's maintenance
building, access road and highway alterations and the earthmoving
and landscaping contracts. Slade Parry Partnership were employed
as Employers Agent to coordinate and steer this multi faceted
project to its conclusion. There was a great deal of commercial
pressure to bring this project in on time and within a very
tight budget, but everybody worked together to ensure a successful
outcome.
CONSULTANT SERVICES PROVIDED:
The Pre-Contract Services
carried out on this project involved initial and detailed
budgeting, advice on procurement, the preparation of the Employer's
Requirements including liaison between Developer, Sports Club
and Architect (subsequently novated), tender analysis and
negotiations with contractor and preparation of Contract Documents
The Post-Contract Services
carried out on this project involved the full Employer's Agent
duties including chairing regular site meetings, liaison between
client and end user, regular cost reporting, checking and
certifying monthly valuations and the agreeing of the final
account.
